2008-06-01 - Back together and on a road test

I finally got it back on the road to test today, 6/1/2008 after the following thanks to help from my cousin's husband Dee.:

Replaced freeze plug - yep, looked like it had been out for quite some time. Makes me wonder if they actually drove it without it??

I was really bummed last night when after we get it all back together there is a small spot of antifreeze in the driveway coming out of the bellhousing. I feared the freeze plug wasn't sealed. I planned on pulling back apart today (Sunday) but it hasn't leaked anymore even after filling it up with antifreeze, letting it set idling and warm way up and driving it around the neighborhood for quite some time. Not sure what is up but will be keeping an eye on it.

Installed new flywheel - Easier than getting to a machine shop around here.

Installed new RAM clutch - OE version based on use of the car and suggestions here - works great, no clutch hydro issues.

Added some synthetic tranny fluid and new u-joints and took her down the road.

The clutch worked great right off the bat, no slippage even under load. Still wasn’t getting any boost on the gauge but could hear the turbo spinning up so I setup my aftermarket vacuum/boost gauge up on the windshield and it is working.

Tracked down the hose feeding the gauge and see it is not hooked up? Just hanging in the engine bay. I had to re-route it a bit to get some extra but hooked it up and the gauge now works.

New Nose

It is just sitting there thus the hood misalignment but looks MUCH better than this
